site inspections

As the construction of your project progresses, the local council will require site inspections to take place at various stages of construction to ensure that all building conditions and standards are being met. These site inspection and earthworks monitoring services are carried out by an experienced engineer.

Shire Engineering Consultants has been approved by various New Zealand councils to take responsibility for signing off on various stages of construction. Over the years, we have been involved in numerous construction projects.

We are able to assist you in obtaining consent for various stages of construction. Once we have completed our site investigation and are satisfied with everything, we submit a PS4 to the council on your behalf.

Geotechnical Site Inspections

In addition to our site inspections at various stages of the construction project, Shire Engineering Consultants also provides geotechnical site inspections, which act as the first stage of geotechnical reporting.

This usually takes place before any construction begins, as the geotechnical report will determine the stability of the ground, slope stability, the types of rock and sediment in the soil, and more. Our soil investigation services tell us whether or not your site is fit for construction. If there are any potential risks or issues, we’ll outline ways in which these risks can be mitigated.

Geotechnical site inspections usually last around 2 hours, during which the site’s ground conditions are inspected and samples are taken.
